A MESSAGE FROM OUR RECRUITMENT CHAIRS

As a freshman entering Cornell interested in sustainability but unsure of what direction I wanted to head in, I was determined to meet people who had similar goals within my interests and varying experiences.

I found Epsilon Eta at clubfest and after getting a glimpse of what this organization had to offer, I was hooked. The biggest challenge that stood between me and official membership was the recruitment process.

I was skeptical of what a professional fraternity would ask of me to demonstrate interest in the organization. The process, after going through it, felt more like an informal meet up rather than a stressful self-salesmanship. The current members asked thoughtful questions and made me feel like I was welcome there.

After joining the organization formally, the current members across various committees reached out and made an active effort to get to know me and make me feel welcome through coffee chats, study sessions and fun chapter meetings. What I quickly realized was that Epsilon Eta fosters a community which is focused on building relationships with our broader community, one which brings sustainability and environmental awareness home, and one which helps build networks and sharpen career skills to help us long after our time here at Cornell.

Joining Epsilon Eta helps you network, it will redefine what sustainability means to you, and you will also make friends and memories with peers who are your mentors, classmates, and your biggest supporters. You don’t have to take my word for it: I invite you to join an information session and get a feel for what we have to offer. You can have no experience in sustainably or you can be published, all are welcome regardless of your major or interests. Diversity and breadth of people, approaches, and ideas are invaluable to the fundamental mission of Epsilon Eta.

Sustainability is a practice that is necessary to incorporate into all fields of study and occupations, so whether you’re interested in business, hotel administration, medicine, engineering, etc., we want to offer you the chance to join our chapter and develop your passion for sustainability.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or Nini for further information. I can’t wait to meet you and I look forward to building a better world, together.
